For Kayla & Aaron's destination wedding, we met up with the couple at The Main in Norfolk, Virginia, where they were getting ready with their bridal party. I got to meet Kayla's mom Sharon, who did an amazing job on making Kayla's dream wedding become a reality! Next, I met Kayla's Grandmother, Fran, who made and designed Kayla's wedding dress using material from Sharon's gown, which was also made by Fran! While I made my way over to The Half Moon with the girls, Mel met up with guys at the hotel. Aaron opened his special gift from Kayla, a stunning new watch with a note reminding him to be there on time! Aaron then passed out sweet new shades and drinks to his crew, while the gang got ready for the big day.
Over at Half Moon, Kayla was overwhelmed with how beautifully the venue and all of her dreams for the day were coming together. The cake had just arrived with a centimental cake topper which belonged to her other grandmother, Ruth, as well! Kayla had so many special heirloom pieces in her wedding, including every piece of jewelry that she wore!
When Kayla finally slipped into her gown, her mother and brother, Chase, who was also her man of honor, couldn't contain their happy tears!
During the ceremony, Aaron had the same reaction to a glowing Kayla as she glided down the aisle arm in arm with her father: the sweetest, happiest tears! The ceremony was short and sweet, and after a photo adventure around the venue, we re-entered the Half Moon to find a beautifully transformed dining area, with their cake sat atop an heirloom dresser which belonged to a loved one who had passed. It was beautiful and sentimental, making it clear once again that every little detail of this wedding was done with love.
Aaron & Kayla's best men / little brothers gave the sweetest toasts as the guests enjoyed dinner, and afterward, Kayla & Aaron shared their first dance with the best dip ever, showing off Kayla's wine colored Van's. Next Kayla shared a sentimental first dance with her father, and then Aaron and his mother rocked out their dance with air guitars and some killer moves!
The couple celebrated into the night with their guests, and everyone enjoyed the music, games, photo booth, bourbon and cigar tasting, midnight snacks, and Doumar's famous ice-cream! It was definitely a night to remember, and one that the couple and their guests won't soon forget.
Congratulations, Kayla & Aaron!! We are so happy for you both, and wish you a happily ever after as Mr. & Mrs. Doherty~*
